JoreyCurrent Location: Mount PaozuTime of Day: MiddayCurrent PL: 5,243 It wasn't a pleasant ride at all. Constant beeping, slightly concerning turbulence, too many clouds in the way to really see, but despite all that, Jorey stayed calm. He'd been through worse landings before, so how bad could this one possibly be? The constant beeping could be attributed to the fact that this pod didn't have much more time to live, and the turbulence most likely is because of the same. The clouds, however, were beyond Jorey's control or prediction, but even still, it wasn't too much to worry about. As the flaming pod cut through the atmosphere of planet Earth, Jorey sat in his pod with his arms crossed. Reentry was successful, and his pod was no longer at risk of breaking down from just entering the planet. Now, all that was left was to find a nice place to land. Within a few more seconds, the Saiyan finally cut through all of the clouds and was able to see land. Unfortunately, this was not the kind of land the Saiyan wanted to see. In his direct line of vision, Jorey saw nothing but a large mountain fast approaching, and there was no way to change trajectory. Immediately, his eyes widened and he gripped the arm resters in his pod. Oh, you gotta be kidding m- Before Jorey could finish his own thought, he made contact with the ground, slamming into the soil right outside of a pond, barely missing the water. The pod bounced, skidded some fifty feet, and came to a halt under an overpass. The Saiyan inside groaned in frustration and allowed the pod door to open. Emerging from the pod was Saiyan mercenary known as Jorey.
Jorey first emerged from the pod with his Saiyan armor and scouter on. He left the cloak in the pod for now. Looking around him, Jorey surveyed the area for life and civilization. The place he was at right now seemed to be full of life, but devoid of the latter. Just what you'd expect if you touched down in some mountainous area, though. Jorey turned on his scouter to read the energy signatures of the creatures around him. Unfortunately, they were all weak, weren't worthy of a fight. Fortunately, they were all weak, easy pickings for food. Where exactly he was, Jorey had no idea. He'd wished he had a map of Earth, or some sort of holographic one. He'd take anything if it meant being able to know exactly where he was, and where he should go to find jobs. Jorey knew nothing of the situation on planet Vegeta, but heard plenty about what's going on in Namek. If Earth was anything like planet Namek, the PTO could have a strong foothold here, as well. If not, there was always the USD. However, hopeful individuals triggered Jorey. Just thinking about cooperating with the USD made Jorey uneasy. Nah, no way. Unless they gimme a helluva lotta money, ain't no way I'm working with those people. Then again, he didn't really like working for the PTO either. It was just that he could do whatever he wanted, and kill whoever necessary with the PTO. With that thought, Jorey put on his cloak, hiding his armor and tail, but keeping his head and scouter exposed.
The water in the pond happened to be fresh, good enough for Jorey to splash onto his face and wash it, and enough to drink from it. His scouter now at his side, the Saiyan reflected on his journey here. He remembered his dream, some more of his previous encounters with other civilizations and planets, the events that happened fourteen years ago, and then shut out all other thoughts upon remembering that tragedy. Gritting his teeth, he yelled out loud unintentionally. "No!" As if he was trying to reprimand a child for doing something they weren't supposed to, Jorey scolded himself with that one word. Ambience seemed to die down for him around him, or at least that's how it felt in his head. He released his tension, began to hear the nature around him again, and sighed. "One of these days, I'll have to completely come to peace with that..." Jorey reached for his scouter, placing it back on his left ear, and stood up. He looked towards his pod and marked the coordinates on his scouter, saving it for a later date when he'll have to leave the planet, for whatever reason. He predicted that the next time he stepped foot in that pod and ventured to another planet, it would be the last journey that pod would be able to make. With that, he turned around, his back facing the pond, and started walking. "But, for now, let's see what planet Earth has to offer."

As per usual, Athren had found himself doing one of the three things he actually did on this planet. He was either scouting the planet and researching the fighters to prepare for what was to come or he was spending time with his kids, those had been the most common. Today he found himself idling around hanging around with his young daughter Cress. He would have to admit he'd rather be training Celric because then he'd be getting some physical training himself, but at least he was getting some time with his daughter, but she only had interest in training with Zerori. Whatever that woman had put into her head was clearly working and Athren had admired it because Cress was getting stronger, it was just a bummer that Athren only got to sit around and spend downtime with his daughter doing the more passive things she liked to do.
Today, the two of them were sitting on a ridge on Mount Paozu and looking for wildlife. They had been looking for different species of birds to be exact or at least she was. Athren was trying to keep himself invested in her by talking about the things that she liked to do. Cress exclaimed and pointed to a large bird that had been circling in the air. "That's a really BIG and cool bird dad! What kind is it?" She asked with a tone full of excitement and joy.
Athren simple looked at the bird and shrugged his shoulders, he didn't know the answer to that. This wasn't his home planet. "I really don't know kiddo, but if I were to name it I'd probably go with something along the lines of really big fuc-.." Athren's words were cut short when he had seen something coming into the atmosphere. Upon first sight he couldn't quite identify what it was, the flame around the pod just too bright and thick to get a good look, at least until it got even closer to the Earth's surface.
Cress immediately pointed to the incoming ship next, he eyes widened with excitement as she had never actually seen a ship about to land and with these pods, they made quite the crash! "Is that a ship!?" She exclaimed with her tone yet again full of joy.
Athren slowly rose to his feet and gave her a little smile. Now that he could identify it, he gave her an answer to that specific question. "It's a saiyan style pod to be exact." He looked down at her and nodded. "You can stay out for awhile, I'm going to go see what they're doing out here. Just don't stay out too late or get yourself into any trouble. If you feel my power level rise, I want you to go back to the ship immediately and inform Ukare of the ship. Alright?" This wasn't something Athren would have told his daughter just weeks ago but Zerori had trained up his little girl enough that she could handle herself against a majority of the creatures on this part of the Planet.
Cress simply smiled and nodded her head. "Okay! Maybe if you start getting beat up I'll go get Zerori instead, she could save you!" She chuckled, teasing at her father as she knew how highly she thought of her.
"Yeah kid, you're probably right about that." He chuckled in return before lifting himself off the ground shortly after the loud crash from the pods landing echoed throughout the Mountain. "I'll see you later, alright?" It was at that point he flew off slowly, he wasn't in a rush and wanted to give whomever it was a moment to get themselves together after the trip. He made sure his power level was suppressed as he didn't want to reveal himself too early. After all, this individual may not have been friendly. In fact, he expected a hostile confrontation, especially given the design of the ship.
Maybe with a little luck though, his own tail and heritage would bring in a more peaceful discussion. Athren had been curious after all, was this individual sent there with a purpose or were they simply just a lone wolf doing just as he did and try to lay themselves a foundation for their own future outside of the Royal Saiyan Army. He'd find out.
As Athren approached a pond he saw a cloaked figure walking away from the crash site, he had immediately started second guessing himself whether or not this individual could actually be a saiyan, after all the style of pod was pretty common with the PTO as well but he failed to see any PTO markings on it. Of course, it would be reasonable to miss at such a distance. Regardless, he landed slowly behind the individual with his own back facing the pod and crossed his arms.
Athren had piped up and began speaking loud enough for his voice to close the distance and register in the individuals ears, "You here for an assignment or something else completely?" He asked aloud. He knew how the saiyan's operated and was pretty well educated on the functions of the PTO as well. If this person was aligned to either faction, it had to be a mission of some kind or they were simply doing their own thing. "It's quite the planet, It's got a whole lot going for it. Pretty decent spot to take a break if you ask me."
With that Athren awaited the attention of the individual, Athren made sure it was obvious that he was saiyan by having his tail swing gently in plain view, his armor and hair were also a pretty dead give away but he wanted to be sure. If this person was a saiyan, they'd likely warm up to a discussion just a little bit easier knowing that fact. After all, there generally was a line of trust amongst saiyans. They were a warrior race, they all knew what they were capable of.

It wasn't long before Jorey encountered his first taste of sentient life. He heard someone call out to him from behind, and in response, he turned to face it. The voice belonged to a man with spiky brown hair, much shorter than Jorey's, and a tail. Wait, he's a Saiyan? There are others on this planet?
Jorey was surprised to see another of his kind living, thriving, on a planet other than Vegeta. Of course, it wasn't like it was unheard of, but it seems like this Saiyan was pretty much assimilating into life on Earth. It wasn't like he was on an assignment or a mission; it was more like he'd already been here and decided to stay here. What's up with that? This Saiyan in question still wore his Saiyan armor, which was interesting to see. Normally, when one assimilates into another society, they'd try to adopt the appearance of the locals, so as to not raise suspicion. Maybe this one still held onto his pride? Maybe this one didn't like the way the Earthlings dressed? Maybe this one just never thought about changing the way he dressed in the first place? Jorey wouldn't know unless he asked. Jorey's scouter activated as the other Saiyan went on, commenting on the planet itself this time instead of asking if he was here on a mission. What surprised Jorey was the reading he was getting on his scouter. It was almost nothing, as if this guy was a ghost. Am I...high or something? Nah, this can't be right. How is someone with practically no power level flying around as if it's nothing? Is my scouter broken from that landing? Lemme try this again...
Sure enough, Jorey tried to get the scouter to read his power level again, and once again, the reading came out very low, unusually low. Jorey stood there, too stunned to really react to the questions or the scouter. What was going on with this new planet? Refocusing his attention to the matter at hand, Jorey just decided to answer the Saiyan's questions instead of continuing to question his own misfortunes. I'ma have to invest in another scouter later.
The next question after that was where to find another scouter. That didn't matter right now, however. "No assignments. I have no affiliation with the Saiyan military or PTO or anything like that. Just tryna find some work and tour the universe, I guess."
Jorey neared closer to the other Saiyan, keeping his cloak on. Even though he decided to get a bit closer to him, he still kept a distance. The outworlder just neared closer so that they could get a better look at each other while they talked, but not close enough to try and get any attacks off. Jorey was still wary about this situation in general. He tilted his head a little bit to see the other Saiyan's tail once more, curious about this situation. "Another Saiyan, huh?"
Jorey revealed his own tail from his cloak, wagging in the air once, almost as if to make it seem like it was the real deal and not some fake. They both have something in common: their Saiyan heritage. Now, it was a matter of seeing what else they shared: views, ambitions, beliefs, alignments, tastes, anything really. There were many questions Jorey had dancing in his head, both about this Saiyan in front of him and about this planet. What was this place like? How could he find work here? What other factions or such are located here, trying to do business? Where would be the best place to find work? All that and more. There was a field day going on in Jorey's head, and the only way to put it to an end was with satisfactory answers. He wasn't on Earth just for nothing. There had to be something for him to do here. If there really was nothing here for him to do, why would he still be here? He'd just get in that pod and take one more trip to another planet. Hopefully, he wouldn't die along the way with the shape that it's in. "Decent spot for a break? Are you speaking from experience? What's another Saiyan doing on this planet instead of on Vegeta? I'm curious to know."
If this individual would be Jorey's first acquaintance here on Earth, he might as well get to know as much about him as possible. It's a good thing he found another Saiyan at the end of the day. They had the shared kinship going on (possibly), so the only hostilities would be if they really didn't get along. Jorey would be more than fine taking his chances with seeing how this Saiyan is. If everything turns out well, he'd have someone to rely on for once in his life, if he ever found himself in a dire situation. Otherwise, Jorey would be more than fine working on his own still. It got him this far already. What's to say it won't get him much farther? Crossing his arms inside his cloak, Jorey thought its as about time to introduce himself. He knows he just asked a question, but he didn't want to show any hostility to the first ever person he met on this planet. With a nod of his head, the lone wolf made his introduction. "By the way, I am Jorey. Thought I might as well get introductions out of the way, since it looks like I literally just dropped from the sky on you."

As Athren awaited a response from the other, he couldn't help but give a small little smirk when he noticed that the digital reading on the scouter was active and attempting to get a reading on his power level. He couldn't blame the other saiyan, that was something that he would have done as well if he was fresh and new to a planet, though the difference is Athren wouldn't need a scouter. The only reason Athren didn't bother to try and level out this individual was the fact that with suppression, you'd never get an accurate reading on what they were actually capable of. Athren addressed that first but this was more of a way to gain some trust because the one before him could easily be set up to be a tool, a necessary ally if he could play his cards right. The more trustworthy he was, the better his chances to get what he wanted and what he wanted was a little unintentional help. "You'll have to learn to deal without a scouter, fighters on this planet can sense Ki and even suppress it, just as I'm doing now." Athren had shrugged his shoulders lightly as he watched the man approach him and close the gap.
He listened carefully as the other individual explained how he wasn't on an assignment, how he was simply there to tour and maybe find some work. Athren nodded his head as he understood that situation completely. "You've picked a good planet to start on, lot's of work and opportunities here."
When Jorey had removed his cloak and Athren saw the tail, he couldn't help but think that this could be exactly what he needed. With any luck, this individual wouldn't be able to control the great ape transformation and could be a great asset to Athren's whole reason for being here. If he could manage to unleash a couple of mighty Oozaru's at the USD base, his job would be so easy and the Earthling's might not even know that he was truly the one responsible for it, it would take some effort, luck and some planning but if he could run it that way, he'd absolutely try his best to do it that way.
Bringing up the fact that Athren was a saiyan as well, Jorey questioned why Athren was here and it was a fair question that Athren would have no issues answering, though he wouldn't answer it completely and give every single detail, he intended on giving enough information to make him seem trustworthy. Athren wasn't a liar but he would withhold information if it were to his benefit, he would never say anything that was untrue.
Athren explained his reasoning for being here rather calmly and hopefully in a way Jorey would understand. "With the ongoing affairs on Planet Vegeta, I found it a little difficult to actually get ahead. It wasn't exactly the life I was always striving for growing up so I left to do my own thing and so far, it's working out pretty well." At this point Athren would have chuckled slightly, thinking about the past life he lived within the saiyan empire. "At the end of the day, I'd rather build my life than Vegeta's reputation. Especially when there wasn't much recognition for my efforts. So here I am, doing my own thing."
Hopefully Jorey would understand Athren's point of view, it wasn't exactly a common belief with the saiyan's and more often than not, Saiyan's were loyal to the throne to the core and the words that were just said would be more than enough to cause some kind of a fight. Hopefully it wouldn't go that way but it wouldn't exactly be unexpected, up until this point the other individual was rather polite for a saiyan.
Hearing Jorey introduce himself Athren nodded his head and did exactly the same thing, "I'm Athren, Former member of the Saiyan Elite, now just somebody trying to get ahead on my own page." Though quickly after Athren had said this, he too wanted to find out more about Jorey. Like him being asked what he was doing here, he would ask similar.
"Though you have my curiosity as well, like my own case.. It's unusual for a saiyan to not be affiliated with the Saiyan Empire, so what's your story?" Athren couldn't help but wonder what the reasoning was, was it something along the same lines that he was going through or was it something completely different, surely he was going to find out here momentarily. Athren could only hope they'd line up slightly and have a mutual understanding. Athren wasn't looking for best friends or anything, just potential power to assist him with his own goals. At this point the main task was to start pulling the strings.

It was unfortunate that the other Saiyan knew exactly what Jorey was going through. Not only did he express his understanding of the scouter, he told him something Jorey was unfamiliar with. Sensing Ki and suppressing it? Is he referring to our energy? You can do that? That'd explain why the scouter is picking up a low power level, then. He's hiding his energy.
Jorey figured that if he was going to keep living on this planet, at least for the time being, he'd have to figure out how to do this "energy control" thing. On the bright side, this planet was apparently great for new opportunities and jobs, as the other Saiyan mentioned. If that was the case, Jorey shouldn't have much of a problem finding work and surviving here. Unless, of course, the kind of work this other Saiyan is referring to involves not getting one's hands dirty. In that case, Jorey might struggle to find work for what he's good at here, but either way, he'll figure it out. If it comes down to it, Jorey was confident he can survive in the wild if he can't find a stable living income. Still, though, another Saiyan. Jorey hadn't met many other Saiyans on planets other than Vegeta. He thought it was almost too strange. Saiyans are a proud warrior race. Usually, they'd only want to be leaving the planet for glory or if they were working off planet in any way, shape, or form. More often than not, that "working off planet" would mean working for the PTO. In light of all that, then, why would this Saiyan decide to get up and leave the planet? Was there some sort of excommunication? Were they chased here, out of the planet, by other Saiyans? Was he trying to escape something? Does he just not like living on Vegeta? Jorey hadn't heard of a Saiyan that wasn't proud enough to say they were from Vegeta and actually wanted to leave. Regarding this Saiyan, there had to be a reason why he left his home planet. This only got Jorey to thinking. What's going on over on Vegeta? Is there something I don't know that's going on, making Saiyans like him want to leave?
Alas, Jorey got somewhat of an answer to his question. There was obviously something going on in Vegeta, but it's not apparent what exactly it is. The Saiyan mentioned he was from Vegeta and used to be a part of the Saiyan Elite. The Elite, obviously, would be the most proud of the planet. They would be the least inclined to leave the planet. Why, then, is this man here? He mentioned wanting to "build his life rather than Vegeta's reputation." That it was actually "difficult to get ahead." How was it hard for an Elite to get ahead? Jorey hadn't heard a Saiyan speak about individuality like that. At least, not since before that time over a decade ago. Memories suppressed for a good reason started seeping into the lone wolf's mind once more. Jorey didn't want to remember these things. Instead, he wanted insight on the subject at hand: what's happening on Planet Vegeta? What was going on, that a Saiyan Elite, who would pledge their life to the throne, saw that it would be better to live for themselves rather than for the crown? Jorey made a mental note to question this Saiyan further about it. It was a pressing matter that Jorey found was quite important. Of course, Jorey feels no particular allegiance or loyalty to the Saiyan people, or the crown. However, he still keeps his pride, and as a Saiyan, he shares a concern for the well being of his people. Progress was being made in questioning the Saiyan, though. Athren, the Saiyan in question, used to be a part of the Saiyan Elite. Now, he's living on Earth, apparently severed from the Saiyan monarchy. The two of them exchanged names, but now Athren wanted to know about Jorey's background. Obviously, Jorey wouldn't tell him everything. He felt that telling him the things he had went through was too personal, and he wasn't close enough to Jorey to know that side of him. As a matter of fact, Jorey remembered that no one knows about his past. That was a good thing. If the lone wolf wanted to continue being just that, then he'd have to continue to hide his identity from the public. The only thing people should know about him is his name, him being a Saiyan, and his line of work. As long as people continue to know that, and only that, Jorey can live peacefully. Well, as peacefully as he can in this line of work. If someone gets the idea that they don't want Jorey's existence to be a problem for them in the future, they might even put a hit on him. Fortunately for him, he hasn't received that kind of attention, yet. Jorey sighed and pondered very briefly on Athren's question. After summarizing his thoughts, he gave him an answer "Well, as proud as I am to be a Saiyan, I never had a connection to the throne in the first place. Never was a part of the military, never even got a chance to go to any big cities. I was just secluded and stayed that way for the majority of my life."
That was probably the best answer Jorey could have given in an attempt to reduce the amount of questions about his past. Essentially, he was a nobody and continued to be a nobody. It's not like he was wrong. No one knew of his existence, and those who knew of it are long gone. Now, he's a Saiyan mercenary that goes by the name "Jorey." No one knows if his name is actually Jorey, and no one knows of him before his mercenary work. This was certainly the best answer he could have given. After answering Athren's question, Jorey wanted to bounce another one back his way. As much as he wanted to know exactly what was going on in this planet, he cared more about what was happening in Vegeta. He could always ask more questions about work a little later, after he's satisfied with whatever answer he's given. He was fine with looking estranged from Vegeta. Truth be told, he really was. He hadn't set foot on that planet since he left it when he was fourteen. "You and I are kinda alike. We don't feel that desperate loyalty to the crown like most other Saiyans do. But, I gotta know, how come a former Saiyan Elite like you is...well, a former Saiyan Elite? What's going on in Vegeta right now that's made you want to leave and live somewhere else?"
Jorey crossed his arms, taking a breath again and sighing before continuing. "Truth be told, I haven't been on Vegeta in quite some time. I'm a little outta place with everything that's going on over there."

Athren had awaited a response from Jorey, it had seemed like there had been quite a bit of stuff to think about. Athren could only imagine what he would have felt like if he had come to this planet alone, if he showed up just as Jorey did to have a saiyan who's been here longer informing him of things and the way of life It may have been helpful but at the same time, it might have been a little bit overwhelming given the circumstances. Regardless of all of that, surely they might both be able to benefit from this little exchange and if Athren couldn't use this individuals skill set to his own advantage, maybe he'd just have to settle for somebody to spar with in the future. The options were many, Athren just had to run through the situation and assess it to see exactly which one would have fit the bill the best.
Though when the saiyan did speak, Athren gave him all of his attention. He never broke away from the eye contact. The answer to one of his questions had made Athren raise a brow, it was something that he didn't really hear of happening on planet Vegeta, how'd a saiyan warrior manage to stay secluded on Planet Vegeta? Was he a weak child, was he useless in combat or perhaps they had just forgotten about him? Most of the young in the saiyan population were pushed into some kind of work, they were trained early on in whatever it was they were best at but this guy? He had quite the unique story. "Well, I'll tell you this. It isn't such a bad thing you had a nice secluded life. Being an elite in the military didn't exactly reward me with anything worth keeping." Of course Athren meant this statement in terms of wealth and material objects, the one thing being in the military did give him was experience and that, he wouldn't trade for the world. It made him who he was, it made him a better fighter and a more rounded individual, at least on saiyan terms.
"There wasn't much in the cities unless you wanted to go watch saiyan's fight it out in the Stadium. Otherwise, there was a lot of gambling and drinking. I think the low class district had much more to offer in terms of entertainment. That's just me though. So I'd consider yourself lucky." Athren recalled spending plenty of time in both and the cities of Vegeta never appealed to him like the wilderness did. The wilderness gave him a sense of freedom and disconnect from the saiyan empire, it freed him from their grasp if only temporarily. He wasn't a pawn out there, he wasn't a tool. He was just himself.
Hearing the question that had now fallen his way and it was all about the reasons Athren had left. This made Athren shake his head lightly, though it wasn't in refusal. It was more the fact that he was still struggling to believe that the saiyan empire was in the current shape that it was in. It wasn't exactly doing the best. "Well if I'm keeping it short and rather simple, the leadership just isn't what it used to be. Even since the USD made their ties to the planet the royal family is more focused on themselves and their own personal gain and benefit over the entire planet. Back in the day, at least they had some sense of dedication to the planet." Athren had paused but only for a moment. "I was fighting for them to gain whatever they wanted and wasn't being rewarded for my efforts. It's kind of a hard go when you're trying to get your own life together." He trailed off, giving a little chuckle. "But rumor has it that another group have plans to take over the throne and set the planet right. So, I'd much rather stay away from a civil war."
Though Athren spoke the truth, it was only half the truth was what he had stated and the fact that he didn't want his two children in that environment, especially if such violence could break out on the planet. They were saiyan's after all, if a war broke out between their race there would be mass destruction spread throughout the entire planet. Not only that, but it would leave the planet very vulnerable for anybody else who might have an interest in it and that was something Athren just didn't need to be around.
To Jorey's last statement Athren simply shrugged his shoulders with a smirk on his face. "Well, Truth be told.. You're not missing much going on over there. You're better off without it for the time being." It really was as simple as that, at least in Athren's opinion.

Another Saiyan being here was definitely reassuring. Not only was Athren another Saiyan, but he was another Saiyan from the royal city. He's a full-fledged warrior. While Jorey was extremely curious as to how and why a full-fledged warrior found themselves here instead of in the royal city, fighting for whatever reason deemed necessary by the King, it's also reassuring to know that this planet has some powerful warriors lurking around. This is great for Jorey's thirst for battle, and it's also great to know that there might be targets worthwhile for him to take care of, or potential allies he can use a couple times to make his jobs a little easier. Allies in this kind of work is a little difficult to maintain, though. Everyone has a different set of morals and preferences. One might not want to kill, the other might want to do nothing but kill. One might be fine with you killing their corrupt brother or sister, the other might not be fine with you killing their corrupt brother or sister. One might be loyal to some other client, and the other will have no idea until it's too late. It's dangerous working with a partner; however, it's not impossible. Jorey was confident that if he ever had to work with a partner, he could manage. That is, if they can even keep up with him. Athren never broke eye contact with Jorey. It's great to know that the Saiyan really was paying attention to every word he said, but Jorey is also not very well versed in social settings. He doesn't usually make a lot of eye contact, unless he's really trying to drive a point across, or if he's just being socially awkward again and doesn't realize he's staring. He threw all of those lessons from his uncle away many years ago. So, Athren staring at Jorey resulted in him breaking eye contact multiple times with the other Saiyan and looking away. It wasn't Athren's fault, just Jorey not being used to these kinds of situations. However, Athren did admire that Jorey had a nice, secluded life in the first place. It was a little understandable to Jorey; maybe the other Saiyan grew tired of the restrictions and rules of the royal city and Saiyan military. It's nice to be free, if not forever then every now and then. I wouldn't say it was a NICE secluded life, but hey, what're you gonna do when your family is murdered in front of your unconscious body by someone you used to care about...
Jorey scratched his head a bit and chuckled lightly. He appreciated Athren saying that, but he didn't show on his face at all how he felt about it being a "nice" secluded life. "I mean, your life definitely had its merits, I'm sure. But, I guess even the city life can take its toll on you. Seclusion is a nice little vacation, in some ways."
It was interesting to learn about the city life on Vegeta. It really was exactly what he thought it was: fighting being the main attraction wherever you went. Gambling and drinking wasn't too far off from what Jorey was thinking either. One thing that did stick out to him though was the word "low-class." It's not like it hurt him, but it stood out to him and made him think. Low-class, huh? Would I have been a low-class warrior if I was raised in the cities of Vegeta? Would I have been up there with Athren instead? Highly doubt they woulda let someone like me into their ranks, even if my parents and uncle were military. That's a thought for another time. I couldn't care less about those politics and class systems.
I guess there was a little luck to Jorey being disconnected from society: there were no political or militaristic problems he'd have to deal with. He lived off the land and just did his own thing for his whole life. It just would have been better not to experience the hell he'd experienced. Jumping from planet to planet could be considered "fun" to an adventurer, but to him, it was just a sign that life keeps going on, corruption still exists, and no one gives a shit about anyone else but themselves. It was a sign of a "dog-eat-dog" world, a sign of destruction and turmoil, a sign of the universe not changing. It was a sign that Jorey would continue to be the way he was, and that hope was still a very foreign concept not worth investing in. "I felt you on that. I do feel pretty lucky to not have the military on my ass for not being on Vegeta or enlisting in in. In some ways, not being known to exist has its perks."
Hearing what Athren had to say about Vegeta was an eye opener. While it was a little saddening to hear that your motherland was going down the drain, Jorey couldn't help but feel humored by it. He didn't dare let it show on his face, lest he wanted to provoke a reaction from Athren, but on the inside, he was laughing a little bit. The image was amusing to him: the Saiyan planet of Vegeta, currently in civil war. THE Planet Vegeta; the one that was so proud about its military and King that it was now trying to overthrow both. What does that say about the Saiyan people? What does that say about its government? They were hypocrites, or so it seemed. While Jorey was sure there was a reason for why they were going into civil war, it was still a comical issue to think about. It seems, though, that this civil war was a long time coming. If Jorey felt like the King he was so proud of didn't care in the slightest for him or the rest of his subjects, he would probably want to revolt, as well. It makes sense, now, why Athren left. Jorey nodded his head as he listened, understanding Athren's reasons for leaving. Jorey did feel more better off here than on Vegeta, mainly because of the fact that he wouldn't have wanted to fight against the whole government. While he felt like crap here, he'd feel even more like crap over there. Jorey took a deep breath and sighed, looking up at the sky as if he was looking right at Planet Vegeta. "I didn't know all that. Wow, a civil war, huh? Kinda ironic to think about our planet being so proud of everything about us, only to have it all go up in flames in revolution. I really am glad I'm not up there, right now. But..."
Jorey paused a bit for dramatic effect, to show that he didn't actually hate Vegeta or wish it the worst. He didn't really care about Vegeta, in the slightest, but he is still a Saiyan. He has some sort of pride in his people and his planet. "I hope everything sorts out up there. I'd hate to hear about my own home planet being destroyed over a civil war."

Though it was an unexpected meeting, Athren wasn't exactly dissatisfied with the encounter. Sure, it was taking him away from the day plans he had but he could easily carry out his plans later or the day after, for now he'd sit around and enjoy a conversation with one of his own. Though it was a rather curious thing having a discussion with a saiyan such as Jorey, he didn't seem as aware as the things going on around the planet. Now, this had brought Athren to wonder, was it because he was a low class and lived his life in their district or was it something else completely? Maybe he didn't care to learn about the planet and it's ongoing events, or maybe he just didn't invest himself into the politics. Either way, it was surely an interesting discussion. Though Athren really didn't have any feelings about the division of the Elites and the low class, he could definitely tell there was a difference in their upbringing and their awareness of the planet's events. Even the simple fact that he relied on his scouter was a big thing, though it wasn't uncommon on Planet Vegeta to use a scouter, a lot of the elites had known how to sense ki or at least were aware of it. While this individual was completely oblivious. It would be the little things that gave their differences away.
Maybe if Athren had been a full-blooded saiyan, he'd have a difference of opinion on the matter. His saiyan pride often didn't come into play and he didn't think he was better than others just because he was an elite. If he was stronger than an individual, he'd respect himself for putting in the work to get there. It wasn't about a birthright or class, simply the effort he put in. "It sure had it's ups and downs but at the end of it all, here I am. So clearly it couldn't have been that good." Athren couldn't help but shrug his shoulders thinking back to it all. Though it did bring him a lot of good times and memories, it connected him with plenty of companions and comrades, it wasn't what he wanted for himself. Being a mindless fighter, fighting whatever the orders had pointed at? He much preferred the free-living lifestyle he had now, maybe it would've been better to be among the low class in their district. Less responsibility and you found yourself being called upon by the military less often. Plus, it was a lot more common to have a simple job in that district if you wanted it.
Athren had continued to listen to him speak about how he was lucky to not be enlisted in the military and how exclusion had it's perks. He couldn't help but wonder about it ever so briefly if he wasn't known, how he could operate more freely with little to no responsibilities to anybody but himself and his kids. As of now, it was a lot to maintain a faction while trying to maintain a fair hand. He didn't want to force anybody to do anything and he tried to work it as a democracy while sharing the rewards equally with everybody, but it wasn't as easy as he would have thought. The freedom of non-existence to the outside world? That had truly sounded like the most ultimate form of freedom. No rules, no expectations, just life. He couldn't help but wonder if he threw everything away, if he could have a little taste of that. Maybe, maybe not. Time would tell where his road would take him. "I could only imagine what kind of perks you get to live with. I'd bet you get the ultimate taste of freedom with your choices, never having to answer to anybody but yourself? Hell if I could.. I'd take that life any day."
When the talks had come to the discussion of the events on Vegeta and how there could very well be a civil war of some kind, Athren shrugged his shoulders. There was a lot of potential if something like that were to happen on Vegeta. He couldn't see the Planet being destroyed in it but he could see it being under new leadership which was something that the planet had needed desperately. "In all honesty, if it does come to that. I'm curious to see what the outcome is. If somebody claims the throne who has the best interest for the saiyan race, I honestly think it would be worth it." Athren paused almost as Jorey did, adding in a flare of theatrics to his conversation. "But if it ended with the same result as what's going on currently, I'd say it would be one hell of a waste of life. Only time will tell us though and maybe, just maybe.. It'd be a place worth going back too."
Though Athren had no intentions of returning to Planet Vegeta, he wondered if it could drastically improve for him to want to go back. Would a new ruler drive the saiyans to better themselves or would they keep their race on the exact same path they had been following? Time would tell but Athren was curious. Though the civil war hadn't broken out yet and the were just rumors of a rebellion against the throne, Athren almost wanted it to happen. Though he wasn't as proud of a saiyan as most, he did know his race had massive potential if they were all treated decently. If the ruler could motivate their subordinates to push themselves for a cause greater than just giving more wealth to the throne but instead for the benefit of the planet? That would be a hell of a dangerous, efficient race and military. One that could probably match the PTO in strength even with less numbers. Surely the next few months to come would bring the conflict to the forefront, assuming that the rumors had any truth to them.

Jorey couldn't help but wonder after a while what it was really like to be a part of the elite. He hadn't met anyone from Vegeta before that was part of the Saiyan elite. He'd only known his family, who were people who used to be part of the military but ended up leaving for one reason or another. Then, he left Vegeta after he lost everything, traveling from planet to planet, making a living from being a mercenary, assassin, spy, whatever he was tasked to do. For as long as he could remember, he lived the life of a refugee, a nomad constantly on the run from his past. He never knew what it was like to settle down, to be at ease. He'd forgotten what it was like to not have to worry about people backstabbing him, plotting behind his back, the possibility of danger existing wherever he goes; it was exhausting. Maybe Earth could be a place where Jorey could settle down for a bit? Maybe he could call this place a home for a little while? The fact of the matter is, there's ups and downs in either one of the two Saiyans' way of living. Jorey had to acknowledge that. Being a Saiyan elite meant having clout, having connections, having a luxurious life, whatever that may be for a Saiyan. Being an elite meant being known, being up there, and even having a chance to get close to the King. Other than a life full of battle and excitement, which is also what an elite life most likely would be like, it's anything a Saiyan could ask for. On the other hand, Athren said some stuff that really stuck out about a nomad's life. There was no one you had to care for, no one who would drag you down. Being nonexistent like Jorey was meant absolute freedom, freedom from hierarchy, freedom from expectations, freedom from responsibility. Jorey could walk around only being identified as a Saiyan. He'd have no name, no legacy, no expectations. All people would think when they see him is that he's a Saiyan. They wouldn't know anything about him or his character, and most of the time, they'd just let him be. He could make a name for himself beyond the name that his parents and uncle made for them. At the same time, living the life of a nomad or nobody meant being alone. Jorey was very much used to being alone at this point in time, but there were times where it was painful to be alone. There were times where Jorey would rather have company. However, the Saiyan didn't know how to even approach having company. He'd been fairly socially awkward for some time, abandoning his knowledge of all social cues. Additionally, his personality wasn't exactly the most cuddly or friendly. He was a murderer, liar, thief, spy, and everything else you could think of. Jorey has assisted in the slavery of different races in his life, all for the sake of money. He'd abandoned hope and compassion, two things that his father and mother told him not to live without. How would he be capable of having company, whether it be in the form of friendship or a lover or mentor or whatever it could be, if he himself wasn't the most stable at the moment? Then again, Jorey felt like he'd be worse off if he had Athren's lifestyle. What he described about the Saiyan elite didn't seem too appealing to himself, after all. "Freedom...is one way to put it, I guess. I'd never really thought about it that way, honestly. I always just focused on the adventure itself, not really the privilege of being free."
Jorey wasn't entirely lying. He wasn't focusing on himself being free, necessarily. It did feel, however, that he was always shackled by something. He couldn't quite put his finger on it, though. What could it possibly be? The main thing, though, that Jorey focused on was if there were people who knew of him. If there were people that knew of him, it could mean one of two things: potential clients, or potential vengeance seekers. If they weren't looking to get back at him for whatever job he had to accomplish, would those potential clients try to backstab him and kill him in the end, just to cover up loose ends? It's not like it hasn't happened to him before. This could be a common practice, if your lifestyle is too risky or shady. Regardless, Jorey's focus was always on his own safety. Wherever he went, he always wondered if there was someone who knew him, and if that someone was out for his head or not. The discussion the two Saiyans had about Planet Vegeta was truly and insightful one. Jorey was able to learn a few things about Athren. He doesn't hate Vegeta at all, but he seems to definitely hate the politics of it. Athren seems to only want the best for Planet Vegeta and the Saiyan race, and if that meant that they get new leadership or something, then that would be great. Athren also spoke about maybe wanting to go back to Vegeta. This was a concept that never even struck Jorey. He never even thought about trying to go back to Planet Vegeta, trying to go back to his homeland, for many different reasons. The first was being the memories he has of that place. Simply being around other Saiyans could sometimes be a cruel reminder fo the fate his family shared on that planet, even if it wasn't his fault. It was still very traumatizing. Why would he want to go back to the place where his whole life practically ended? The second was how he would even live on the planet. Vegeta was the home planet to all Saiyans, but Jorey didn't even know how to live there in the first place. He was raised outside the cities in the middle of nowhere. He didn't know how to function in Saiyan society, how to navigate, what customs there were, nothing. If he were to go back, how would he even be able to get used to life there, to do anything there? Having someone like Athren around might be helpful, at least, but he wouldn't want to put that burden on someone to get him up to speed. The final reason was a very simple one: he just didn't want to go back to Vegeta. To him, Vegeta was never really his home. It was his birthplace, for sure, and he'll always have pride in it being so. Despite that, it wasn't his home, wasn't his place of comfort or dwelling. He didn't want to return at the end of the day, and that's final. Jorey shrugged in response to Athren's shrug and comment. He looked up at the sky, as if staring right at the planet in question, right there painted in the clouds and sun. "I dunno. I never thought about going back home to Vegeta. Might be a nice change of pace at some point in time. Might be able to settle down there in the future, but who knows? I dunno about it, but maybe it'd be nice to actually go back at some point in time, see what I've been missing. I'll have to mill it over for a little while, think about things, y'know?"
To make himself more comfortable, Jorey coiled his tail a bit on the floor, sprung himself up, and then sat on it with his legs crossed in the air. For added support, he put his hand on his leg, and then rested his head on his hand. This was what Jorey usually did to sit down, as he didn't necessarily like sitting on the bare floor, and there weren't really any chairs around. It was a reflection of his nonexistent classiness. "So, you got any family down here on Earth, or are they still over at Vegeta?"

It was rather unique, to have this level of a conversation with another saiyan, especially one that had just arrived on a new and unknown planet. From a situation where tensions could have been high and the threat of a fight lingered, it had resolved into a peaceful, like-minded back and forth rather naturally. It was a nice change of pace, discussing the homeworld of Vegeta. It wasn't something that he got to do often anymore, he didn't come across many saiyans or even those who knew about the planet, to but have one that hailed from there arrive in front of him? It was almost too good to be true. Though it was quickly realized that Jorey hadn't the same knowledge base about the Planet that Athren did, but that was just fine. It just meant that maybe Athren's knowledge could be of use to exploit Jorey's lack thereof, especially with the upcoming attack but still, even without that thought in mind this was a rather nice moment.
The way this individual had spoken, it was quite obvious that he was a carefree, adventurous type. At least that's how he was portraying himself. One who didn't much care about ranks and structure but more about the moment of life, and it was a genuinely interesting concept for a saiyan. Most had fallen into line, into the ranks of the military somewhere and tried to increase their ranks, their respect, and their power and that was either for their own pride or the benefit of their race, or so that was what they told themselves to make it seem more justified, even with the current rulers throwing the pride of the saiyan race down the drain of the USD.
It had been something else since the USD got involved with the saiyans, it had almost felt like the Planet was losing it's life. It was like a flickering light in the dark that was struggling to stay lit, it felt like darkness had surrounded the planet and was preventing them from being exactly who and what they were meant to be and that was a damn shame. Athren didn't fully understand what the influence was that the USD had, he didn't know what kind of bargaining chips they had on the tail or the specifics to it all but he knew it must have been something valuable to specific individuals, otherwise, he assumed the planet would remain the same.
Of course, as they spoke, the back of Athren's mind had been devising a plan to exploit this individual. Though he couldn't be sure, but he expected his training with the Oozaru to be limited if not non-existent. The fact that he couldn't sense ki was even a giveaway that his training on Vegeta was limited and whatever he did receive would have been very basic. Surely, he didn't have control over his Oozaru form and he believed that even the tail would be a stretch, but it wasn't uncommon for parents or even the kids themselves to take that into their own hands, after all, it was the most exploitable part of a saiyan. It was well worth it to contain one tail weakness in order to prevent a pathetic death.
Athren had listened as the individual went on briefly about adventure and how he wasn't focused on the aspect of being free. Athren had nodded his head as he kind of understood what he meant. Being free wasn't really a forethought in the mind when you had the freedom to make your own choices and live your life to a degree, freedom was more of a thought and desire for those who didn't have that luxury, for those who were controlled and conquered by another, a prime example being the Namekians. Surely in this day in age, they desired their freedoms back but in the case of Jorey, he had his freedom so he could focus purely on the adventure of it all and that must've been a pretty fun and entertaining way to live. Athren on the other hand, was always focused on getting one stepping ahead, getting promoted, making more money getting into a more superior unit, he had goals and he chased them. The adventure wasn't really on his mind until recently, until retirement was a concept for his children until he could run free with them without the rest of the universe requiring his talents for the payment of zeni. He thought about how he and his children could explore new worlds until they found one they could call home.
"I wish I could tell you I could relate to that, chasing the adventure never really was a thing for me. Desire and goals had fueled my life for a vast majority of it, money and recognition were something important to me at the time. Though I did acquire it all for a time being and I thought I was content, I completely skipped out on what could have been enjoyable, the time frame between the start and end of those goals." It was the truth, there may have been some fonder memories made if he would have taken a breath and didn't rush to his goals, if he would have taken his time and enjoyed the process, maybe he would have appreciated it all more, but nonetheless it didn't really matter anymore. His new goals were his kids and he was repeating that same mistake all over again until he could retire and hide away with them on a new planet, he had to focus on work and getting to that point. With the amount of Zeni offered for the destruction of the USD base, he'd be able to live his own life with his children for a very long period of time.
The saiyan had sat down in such a odd and unique way that Athren couldn't help but arch his brow curiously as he observed, though he did continue to listen. Though the little part about maybe going back to Vegeta didn't leave much for him to add, he was caught off guard by being asked about family. That was truly a unique question for a saiyan, more often than not saiyan's didn't have an interest in the family of others, it was rare for them to really, truly and deeply care for their own. Of course, Athren had his demon side going for him and he assumed that where the difference was between him and a regular saiyan but this guy? He was just unique.
Though Athren was well aware that he couldn't speak of his family, he wouldn't to anybody. After what he was planning to do he didn't need any additional eyes on anybody he actually cared about, he couldn't have anybody that he knew taking responsibility for what he was going to do. Sure, there was the risk they'd get targeted by retaliation for the attack for being part of his faction if he blew it but as an individual, they'd be hard to target and Athren knew he didn't need a cross hair on his kids backs. Though he didn't consider himself a liar, he would absolutely cover this one question up. He was more likely to redirect truths to narratives that fit the bill best for him, he'd twist words and the truth as needed but in this case, he'd just deny everything.
"If I've got family on either of these planets, I be able to tell." He could fit this lie into what he had said just previously about how his work had taken a huge portion of his life. "Like I mentioned, I forgot to really enjoy the trip to my success and really just focused on getting to where I wanted to be, really didn't have time for family or friends. I was trying much to hard to grow and become who I am today. Maybe it wasn't the right choice but it's too late to turn it all back now." With that being said, Athren would leave it at that and hopefully the subject would once again change. With any luck Jorey would lead the change in conversation. Even though Athren had lied, nothing had changed. His tone, his posture and even his glare remained. He wasn't going to give himself away easily and honestly, the only way Jorey would find out about his kids is if Athren wanted him too.

As time went on, Jorey was able to lower his guard a little bit more. Well, rather get more comfortable with his surroundings. The planet was a lot more green and a lot more blue than Vegeta, or many other planets the lone Saiyan had been on. This might have been the planet with the most vegetation and the most life. It was definitely an interesting place so far. There were many things Jorey could learn from the people here, and even Athren himself. If Athren had been here for a while already, then it would be easy to get by on this planet from the perspective of another Saiyan. All Jorey had to do was ask the questions he needed answered. One thing is for certain, though: Jorey couldn't ask Athren about where he can find mercenary work. He'd have to go out of his way and find that out on his own, especially since he didn't want his cover blown. Where could Jorey possibly go to find this kind of work, though? This planet didn't seem dangerous so far. The wildlife here seemed very weak compared to those on different planets, even the Saibamen that some people would train with. If the non-sentient life here on this planet was this weak, Jorey figured that the individuals at the top of the food chain wouldn't be too strong either. Getting work done on this planet might be a piece of cake. Hell, it might not even be worth staying here. Well, on the bright side, having this place as a retirement option might be viable. Jorey could always take a break or just completely lie low on this planet. The peaceful nature of this planet and the assumption that everything on this planet was weaker than Jorey was very appealing. He could see it now: sometime, way in the distant future, Jorey would retire, and- Okay, I'm done thinking about that. I ain't getting to that point, yet.
That was going to be something Jorey would think about maybe, like, fifty year into the future. Right now, Jorey was interacting with Athren. Speaking of, Athren seemed to raised an eyebrow when Jorey sat down on his tail. The lone wolf noticed this. He knew that his unique style of sitting was, well, unique. He didn't remember other Saiyans sitting the same way he did, even when he was younger. The very few memories he has left of his family had them either sitting on a chair or sitting on the ground, if there was nowhere else to sit. However, Jorey was a different individual. He didn't like to sit on the ground. If he had the choice, he would just sit on the air, or on his tail. It was rather comfortable. Even though Jorey knew he had a rather peculiar way of sitting, he decided to play naive, and act like he didn't know other Saiyans didn't sit this way. He looked down at his tail, looking back up, and addressed Athren's look in a confused tone. "What? Don't other Saiyans sit this way, too?"
According to Athren's answer, it seemed like he was too busy to really start a family. Well, it didn't seem too unnatural, honestly. Saiyans are a warrior race; they feel their fill in life when they're involved in combat. That's how Saiyan nature usually is. With what Athren described, Jorey figured that it wouldn't be unnatural for Saiyans to not start a family because they are too focused on getting stronger. If it weren't for the fact that Jorey was a socially awkward and could potentially be considered a sociopath due to the past trauma he suffered as a child, he wouldn't be surprised if he himself didn't start a family due to him being too invested in getting stronger. Unfortunately, Jorey has about ninety-nine other problems as to why he most likely can't land a partner. The lone Saiyan nodded in affirmation of what Athren said, showing whatever sympathy he was capable of showing. He sighed a bit, then looked off into the distance. "That's fair. You can't really be blamed for that. Us Saiyans have a natural drive to get stronger, to fight. I wouldn't feel bad about that. If anything, you spent your years wisely tryna better yourself for the future. If you do start a family at some point in time, you can rest easy knowing you spent your time getting strong enough to protect 'em. At least, that's how I would try to think of it."
Jorey couldn't care less about starting a family, much less looking out for them. He himself spent most of his life without a family. How would he even know how to take care of one? How would he know how to be a family? Changing the subject from an apparently touchy subject to a lighter one, Jorey leaned back a bit on his tail, still sitting on it. The Saiyan fixed his facial expression, no longer showing sympathy and adopting a more relaxed and friendly look on his face. He cleared his throat and asked his next question, finally getting down to business with what he would need to survive. "So, Athren, how've you been living on this planet? You know if there are any jobs I can get here? A man's gotta eat and survive."

Athren would have suspected his look would be odd just from seeing Jorey sit the way he did, but it turns out the other saiyan noticed the raised eyebrow. It wasn't exactly a feature Athren often tried to hide, it displayed some of his more curious thoughts literally right there on his face. Jorey had commented whether or not other saiyan's had sat down like this and though it seemed like not much of anything, to Athren it just showed how off Jorey was from the rest of his race. Athren couldn't help but shake his head slowly and speak aloud, his tone full of a confused vibe. "You really didn't socialize much on Vegeta, did you?" Athren had brought the question up before shrugging his shoulders. "I've never once seen a saiyan sit like that. I've gotta say, it's strange. Very.. strange." Though it really didn't matter, Athren was going to give an answer to the question. Athren had only hoped that this topic would roll over very quickly, it wasn't one that kept his attention and even though it was very strange to him, he really didn't care how the other saiyan had decided to sit, he could do as he pleased.
It had seemed like there were multiple topics Athren would rather breeze by with, he really didn't want to discuss family any longer than he had to. Athren wasn't a liar by nature, in fact he hated it. Though he'd try to twist his words to avoid telling certain truths, he was kind of caught between a rock and a hard place here. He couldn't really twist his words here. It was a pretty blunt question and direct. Regardless, the wording he had used previously had seemed to be more than enough to keep Jorey on the way saiyans had gotten stronger to fight, that was something he could easily discuss. "You're not wrong but here's the thing, no matter how strong you get. There's always going to be something stronger, so family or not. You'll not always be able to protect even yourself from certain people. It's just the way this universe works and how it's always going to work."
Athren had been around long enough to see this time and time again and it wasn't anything new, once somebody had thought they reached the pinnacle of strength and might, somebody would seem to come out of nowhere and take them down a peg. Whether it be on a mission, personal trips, or something else entirely, there would always be somebody stronger than you. It was something Athren had learned to accept long ago, and he was fine with that. As long as he could succeed where he wanted to, that was really all that mattered. He didn't need to be the best, he just had to be good enough to achieve his goals, he wasn't a very complex individual when it came to that.
Though it seemed as if Jorey was asking all the wrong questions, questions that would put Athren in a tough spot to talk his way out of without telling straight-up lies. He wasn't going to answer the questions in truth, he didn't need anybody to know how he was surviving, or how he lived, or what he was doing on this planet. His plan was simple, avoid certain aspects of Jorey's question while answering others, shift the narrative to what Jorey does, how he wants to live, and keep Athren's personal life out of it. That was the only real way forward without raising suspicions. He didn't need anybody knowing anything about him, or start digging around for that matter.
Athren pondered all for a moment before giving his response to Jorey, he kept it basic and very open. "I've been living one day at a time, as far as work goes.. I'm sure there are plenty of options for a saiyan, after all, we are incredibly strong. If you're after some hard labor, you shouldn't have much issue." Athren couldn't help but pause for a moment, he thought about how easy Earth was to survive on as a saiyan. Even if one didn't have money or a roof over their head, Earth's natural landscape and wildlife provided all the food and shelter one would need. Especially one as tough as a saiyan.
"You shouldn't have much problem surviving here, food is plentiful. You've got animals roaming all around, berries and fruits everywhere and the landscape tends to provide shelter. You might have to rough it a little bit, but you'll be more than okay." Honestly, Athren didn't have much more to say in regards to surviving around here, it was really easy. So long as Jorey wasn't opposed to sleeping in a cave or another location he could find, he'd have a roof over his head and as long as he didn't mind gathering food, he'd eat.
All surviving came down to on this planet, was being dedicated enough to make sure it happened. It wasn't a hard or hostile place, Earthling's were peaceful and the wildlife was harmless to a saiyan. The risks here were few, in fact Athren hadn't run into any real risks since he had gotten here. If anything, the risks were the ones from off planet intending to do harm and the perfect example was Athren himself. At this point, it was very likely that he was the biggest risk here. He had intentions that would cause a massive amount of death and destruction and there was a good chance that nobody would be able to stop him, though that was just a thought. "So far living here has been pretty simple, you'll find your way around alright. If you don't mind looking around for your own meals, you'll never go hungry." Athren had assumed that this conversation would go on for a little while longer, surely Jorey had more questions than just that about the Earth and so long as they weren't about Athren's personal business, he'd answer a few more.

Jorey's conversation about how he was sitting with Athren continued. It was a good thing to confirm that no other Saiyans sat this way, but this Saiyan wouldn't get any more information about his home planet from this conversation than that. There were a few assumptions Jorey could have about Vegeta, though. The first and most important one is that Athren probably isn't the best bet to base other Saiyans on. If Athren had to leave the planet for the reason he said it was, it could be inferred that he doesn't agree with what the rest of the Saiyans stand for. The conflict sounds like a very serious one, from what he heard so far from Athren, but that would also mean that a lot of Saiyans on Vegeta would disagree with Athren's action of leaving the planet. For those reasons, it could be assumed that other Saiyans on the planet aren't exactly like this. Racking his own brain for memories of his passed family didn't help Jorey much either, since those were memories he wanted to keep repressed. After realizing the conversation about the way he was sitting wasn't going to get him much information, the lone wolf cursed at himself in the back of his mind. Dumbass, of course you don't sit normally. Can't believe I said something stupid like that.
On the bright side, Jorey ended up making a comedic remark, to lighten the mood, in response to Athren's question about not socializing much on Vegeta. "Uh, I talked to a few trees, if that counts for socializing."
Athren continued on, admitting how strange it was and how he never saw anyone sitting like him before. Jorey ended up looking back down at his tail, lifting his arms up, and slapping them down on his knees. "Well, I guess I'm a strange one, then."
Athren seemed like the pessimistic type. That's fair, considering he did kind of leave Vegeta for political and personal reasons, but more than that, it seemed like he tended to look at things in a more negative light. His comment about there always being someone stronger was evidence enough for that. What could Athren possibly be referring to, to say these things? It had to be from some lived experience, something that happened to him specifically. This couldn't have possibly been something just brought up out of nowhere, unless it was taught to him. Jorey had no objections to looking at things hopelessly. The universe was a place full of corruption, bigotry, greed, and many more, uncountable vices. It ran on the very corruption it bred. There was absolutely no problem with saying that there will always be someone stronger. However, the Saiyan blood inside Jorey sought to return that answer with a concept he couldn't help mentioning. "That's true, there always is someone stronger. But, that's what makes it so much more exciting. Hell, if I don't get killed by the next absolute monster I find, then that just means there's another barrier I'm gonna have to break. It's always exciting to find a new challenge like that, in a ruthless, pain-is-gain kinda way."
Of course, there was something intimidating about finding someone extremely stronger than him. Jorey never really thought about finding someone with unbelievably high power, and he didn't think he'd be finding someone like that anytime soon. However, if the chance came for him to crush his limits and surpass them, he'd be very excited for that. Just one of the many exciting things about combat. The good thing about this planet is that it seemed like it wasn't that difficult to live in. Based on all the things Athren said, the hardest part about living on this planet is if Jorey would have to live in the wilderness, which still didn't seem that hard in the first place. Having a wide open planet like this one, where the prey were weaker than anything else he's seen, would mean it would be easy to live on this planet, indeed. The newcomer already scanned the power levels of the creatures here with his scouter; they were nothing short of laughable. If this planet was a peaceful one, that would explain why everything was so weak. Other than that, it would make no sense why this planet would be the kind to go to war with different planets. It seemed like this place would be a nice retirement planet. Athren seemed to think the same if he was here, leaving Vegeta. If it meant being under the radar and being almost undetectable, living the rest of your life in peace, this would make a great planet to just kick back. Jorey would have to make a mental note to keep planet Earth in mind if he ever found himself caught in deep trouble. In regards to work, it seemed as if this was a labor-centered planet, but not the kind of dirty work labor Jorey did. Athren said that it would be easy to find work, but he gave the newcomer the kind of vibe that it wasn't a dangerous, assassination type of labor. No, he probably meant something along the lines of construction. Jorey would have to investigate further, to see if there was anything else he could do. He put his hand on his chin, thinking about everything Athren had just told him. There was nothing Jorey could do about his pod, and he didn't want to risk traveling to a different one just yet if it meant this thing could explode on him at any second. With all this in mind, the lone wolf came to a decision. Earth would be where he stayed for a while. Until he could find another pod, or until he absolutely needed to leave, Jorey would make this planet his home for the time being. With that settled, Jorey got off his tail and back on his feet again. He looked to Athren, satisfaction painted on his face. "Understood. Thanks for the info. So, this planet should be a relatively weak one. Makes sense, the wildlife here doesn't seem like anything difficult to deal with at all. I think I'll like the peacefulness here. I should find work though, just to I can build an income to buy other things I might need to assimilate to this planet. Buuut, I think I can manage that while I explore this planet a bit. I wonder what else Earth has to offer."
Jorey walked up closer to Athren, looking in the distance now. At this point in time, he felt it was time to go. There weren't any other questions Jorey had for Athren now. He got everything he could possibly look for, and he didn't want to ask too much and risk Athren getting a hint at what he does for a living. Anyone finding out what he does without wanting to do business spells bad news for himself. He gave Athren a respectful smile and nodded. "I appreciate everything. I'll remember the help you gave me today, Athren. I think this is where we part ways, so I hope I'll see you around again."
Jorey was about to leap into the air and start flying to wherever the flow would take him. Right before take off, a thought ran through his head. He was having a bunch of questions answered for himself, but Athren didn't get a much benefit from this interaction at all. It wasn't a fair trade, and fair trades were what Jorey was about in business. Before leaving, Jorey stopped himself, turning back to Athren completely and readdressing him. "Oh, shit, forgot. Is there anything you wanna ask me? I kinda barraged you with a buncha questions, so I feel bad that you didn't get much from this interaction."

Jorey would quickly admit that he was a strange one and that was a fact that even Athren could see. From the little Athren had heard about Jorey's upbringing and former lifestyle, he really didn't fit into the role or lifestyle of a typical saiyan warrior. He was something different, and though it wasn't instantly a bad thing it wasn't necessarily all that good either, but the thought would remain that this individual could be used to attack the USD base on the night of the full moon, it was a safe assumption that his Oozaru form couldn't be controlled, he didn't go through the normal saiyan training. Though his thoughts had crept away from him, he thought it was a solid idea to keep it light. Maybe they'd meet again and Athren could bring up the meeting, he'd leave that to fate and for now, he'd keep the simple talk going. "You're damn well like no other saiyan I've ever met, maybe that's a good thing.. Maybe it isn't. Guess you'll have to find out, won't you?" Athren asked casually, trying to keep it light in the effort of not offending Jorey.
Though what Jorey had said next was probably the most saiyan-like thing he could have mentioned, somebody always being stronger made it more exciting and that was an absolute fact, something that Athren could easily relate to. It was a trait that was pretty spread throughout the saiyan race, the desire for a worthy opponent, a strong one, one that would test you and push you to the limits. It seemed that it wasn't an upbringing thing, but a saiyan thing. Rising up to meet a challenge such as that was an adrenaline rush, something that was so rare that it was worth holding on to. Though Athren did agree with Jorey's words, he would still mean what he said. When a family or others were at risk, that excitement could easily collapse into fear and that depended on the goals of the one who was stronger.
When Jorey had gotten back to his feet, Athren had continued to be rather quiet, he didn't have much to say to the saiyan in response to what he had been saying, though Jorey was rather grateful for everything, Athren didn't seem to make it out to be much. He gave the saiyan a little bit of information, nothing that was too serious or major and it was all something he'd learn in a very short amount of time. Earth was easy to navigate and the resources were plentiful. It would be very difficult to die off here from a lack of food and shelter, Jorey would be just fine on his own without any assistance, even without these so-called tips.
Jorey had approached Athren and said it was time to part ways, that was something Athren could agree with. Athren wasn't much for dragging out conversations into hours, there was a time and a place for those type of talks and now wasn't going to be one of them. Athren still had things to do and though he didn't mind some minor investigation when it came to saiyan's on the planet, he didn't want it to consume a great amount of his time, after all he was a very busy man with a lot on his plate. Not only did he need to prepare for his attack on the USD base but he needed to be a father at the same time and that itself was a full-time job.
Before Jorey had actually left though, he stopped one final time and turned his attention to Athren to make sure there weren't any questions Athren had for him and at this time, Athren didn't have one. He was sure they'd meet again under more appropriate circumstances, one that would allow them to speak longer and for Athren to attempt to get Jorey to Orange city, though that was for a much later date. "Relax, I've got no questions for you.. At least not at the moment, maybe we'll meet again though and I'll have some then. Who knows?" Athren stated calmly as he lifted himself off the ground with his Ki.
"I'll see you around Jorey." With that being said Athren would have taken his leave and blasted off into the Earth's beautiful sky to continue on with his day. Though the interaction really wasn't all that special, it did give Athren a few things to think about and another potential warrior to get on his side, though Athren would need to figure out quickly how to execute it all. If he was going to go this path and get some unwilling volunteers, he'd need to make sure he had a way to make it work, he couldn't afford to add any more resistance to his plan. He needed a bullet proof method of making damn sure it would work in his favor and that they'd actually assist him. Plus if he did manage to get two oozaru's together, he'd have to face the fact that they'd potentially fight. It was a lot to think about.
For now though, he'd allow himself to get back to his routine and carry out what he wanted to get done, he'd find himself working this out later when he had the time. He needed this to be flawless, he couldn't allow any suspicion or drop any clues of his real intention on this planet. He needed to have it covered completely and he needed to keep his faction and family out of the light. He couldn't risk exposing himself or them this early. If all went well, he'd have the base wiped out very quickly and be on the ship shortly after. He didn't want to spend any more time on Earth than he had too, especially when the base went down. He'd have a target on his back from everybody, including the saiyan's he was potentially going to get involved. He needed to be smart, and smart he'd be.

It seemed like the two Saiyans were getting along in a way. Jorey cracking a joke seemed to lighten the mood a little more, and Athren was able to return that lightened mood with a speculative statement. The lone wolf couldn't disagree with it at all, and was curious as to where this relationship would take them. Who knows, maybe Athren would be his client at some point in time, maybe he'd be his target, or maybe he could be a Saiyan he could rely on in the future if shit seems to hit the fan. Regardless, it was definitely something worthwhile to look forward to. This first encounter on Earth with someone wasn't the worst at all. If anything, Jorey was happy that the first person he met did happen to be a Saiyan. It made it easier for him to think he could adjust to this planet, if another Saiyan could do so. He chuckled and grinned a little bit, responding to Athren's statement. "Yeah, I guess we'll have to see."
From what Athren told him, it seemed like Earth would be nothing more than a cakewalk. The superior lifeforms here didn't seem that strong at all, considering the wildlife here was nothing more than laughable in terms of strength. Being able to survive wouldn't be a challenge; being able to let yourself die was probably even more of a challenge. There were a couple of other planets the same way as Earth that Jorey had been on, but none of them were as easy to live on as it seemed like Earth was. If everything really was that simple, finding work here might end up being too difficult to do. There were some things Jorey would have to do as soon as he had the chance. There was research into Earth's political system he had to do. He had to teach himself about Earth's police force and disciplinary habits. He had to learn about Earth's culture, and even their self-defense force, whether that was the USD, or if a different defense force took its place here. All of that would be stuff he could find out by asking other people and by doing research with this planet's databases. Jorey had only hoped that this place had computers, and that they were easy to operate. I swear, if I have to use one more Space Mac instead of a Space Windows PC, I'm gonna flip shit.
Before he left, Jorey just wanted to check and see if Athren had any questions for him. Fortunately enough, Athren had absolutely no questions to ask. Good, I didn't want this to get too personal. He don't needa know about my personal life or my occupation.
Athren reassured Jorey, and told him that they would have a chance to meet again. Personally, Jorey wasn't against this in the slightest. Getting to see a familiar face that wasn't hostile again was always a good thing. Of course, that doesn't necessarily mean they could be trusted, but it means at the very least, they won't have to think about being attacked from the forefront of their mind. Things may hit the fan or go haywire, but they could always be worried about when the situation arises. If Jorey were to see Athren again, it could possibly be used as a chance to catch up or get to know each other better. The lone wolf would be more than happy with finding out more information about this planet, if Athren had anything else to update him with. He wasn't sure about letting the relationship between them become personal enough to be deemed as friends, however. Jorey hadn't had any friends before, and he wasn't sure starting here would be the best plan of action. "Allies" would probably be a more preferable relationship to have. With that, Athren took to the skies, and said his goodbyes to Jorey. In response, Jorey lifted up a hand to say goodbye. "See ya around, Athren."
The other Saiyan took off, flying in one direction and not looking back. Jorey watched Athren leave for a bit, and then turned his attention to his pod. Of course, it was still there, but it was a difficult thing to just leave it there. Who knows what could really happen with it. He didn't think anything would really happen to it, but the shape it was in wasn't the best, for sure. If there was someone here on Earth who was able to repair pods, it would be worth talking to them. Hell, if they could even make a new pod, that would be more than fine for Jorey, as well. He checked his scouter, seeing if the coordinates were still logged and weren't erased on accident. Sure enough, they were still there. Jorey would have to figure out what this place was specifically called, to make it easier to remember where it is. If he didn't have his scouter anymore, it would be worth it to get to know where different landmarks were on this planet. "Ah, dammit, another thing to research. Whatever. Better safe than sorry, anyway."
The mountain Jorey landed on seemed very full of life, very nice to make a temporary dwelling. However, this wasn't to the lone wolf's preferences. If there was somewhere he wanted to be, it would be somewhere devoid or nearly devoid of life, but nice enough to be habitable. That meant no deserts, no winter wonderlands, no vast plains with plenty of wildlife, and certainly not this mountain right here. If Jorey was going to find a place to stay in for the time being, it would have to be a place he could train, as well. Staying on a mountain and training didn't seem like the best place to be. Maybe if the mountain had a vast, plains area as well, then just maybe. Those were decisions for another time, another day. For now, it would be a good idea to find the next destination for the Saiyan. Jorey took to the skies, scanning the area around him. There weren't any power levels close by, or at least none high enough for him to notice. "Doesn't seem to be anything or anyone nearby. Hm..."
Jorey then looked in one direction, with a mischievous smile on his face. "How about we go exploring a little bit, then?"
With that, Jorey set out in the direction of South City, wondering what sort of situation he'd find himself in next. Jorey has officially touched down on Earth.
